Come join Dr. Deborah Epstein (Naturopathic physician), as we talk about the cancer-protective, cardiovascular, and other benefits of a Vegan diet and the Naturopathic health model. Learn how to spot whether you’ve fallen into any of the common habits of being vegan/vegetarian, that may need shaking up. Brush up on monitoring your basics, such as Vitamin B-12, iron, protein, blood-sugar balance, and more.
We’ll meet at the University District library (just a few blocks off I-5, on NE 50th and Roosevelt Ave NE near Scarecrow; it has a moderate parking lot) at 11am on Saturday November 22, and enjoy a taste of a delicious vegan apple cake. Recipe will be shared so you can bake and bring to your holiday festivities and be assured of at least one yummy vegan dessert!
Especially for some of you long-term vegans (or even newbies) that may have questions beyond the “basics” mentioned above, please feel free to send questions to [masked]; if you send a week or more in advance, they can hopefully be worked into the talk.
Drs. Deborah Epstein & Celeste Saenz are both naturopathic physicians opening a practice called “Nature of Health.” They specialize in helping people restore their health using natural medicines and treatments that stimulate the body's own self-healing power.
There are a number of vegan or vegetarian restaurants nearby, for those who may want to head out to lunch afterwards.

I would love to attend this, but I'm volunteering at Marra Farm in South Seattle from 10 to 2 pm. Hopefully there will be more similar events.

    •  Deborah was very knowledgeable and supportive of a vegan diet, although she seemed to have some reservations about it. Only thing that would have made it better... if the speakers were vegan. Great meeting. Infomative.
    •  Very informative. I've been a vegetarian for 24 years, the last 6 a vegan. For the past 3 or 4 years I noticed I was fatigued and people told me it's just part of aging. I happen to read an article on vitamin B12 deficiency in vegans and started taking this supplement, which immediately relieved my tiredness. The lecture last Saturday covered this problem very well. I would like to have more of these lectures, would like one on supplements, e.g., Co-Q 10, acidophilus.
