The Seattle Vegan June Meeting

Vegan Garden is *confirmed*!

At the restaurant's request -- and because it speeds things up for us too -- I'll be pre-ordering a variety of appetizers and entrees so that the kitchen can better serve us. I've pre-ordered several appetizers and 24 entrees. If 30 people come, those average out to $11 per person including tax and gratuity, about like it worked out at Kitaro a couple of months ago. Of course everyone is welcome to order additional / substitute items too. Please bring cash if feasible so that we can pay a combined bill, rather than burying the staff under a flood of credit cards.

There's been a rumor circulating that a Vegan Garden staff member told someone that they add "a little milk for flavor". I asked about this today, and was told that they *used* to add bovine milk to the Rainbow Dessert, but that they switched their recipe to be vegan. They do still offer it as an option for the Au Lac coffee, but I'm assured that everything else on the menu is vegan.

I'm thinking that we might expand the schedule of the group a bit, since we're always filling up the RSVP spots. Starting *next* month we'll default to a first-Saturday meetup @ Araya's (because it's popular and spacious), and a mid-month Sunday meetup at a rotating location (Kitaro, Hillside Quickies, Ethiopian, Veg Bistro, Pizza Pi, GLC, etc). This should add flexibility with respect to the smaller venues, and allow more people to attend.

The first meetup in July will pre-empt this plan and be a reprise of our Cowen Park picnic.
