Documentary Description
I Am An Animal: The Story of Ingrid Newkirk and PETA
Ingrid Newkirk is responsible for dramatically changing the face of the animal rights movement around the world. For almost 30 years, PETA has forced animal rights to the forefront through undercover investigations, successful corporate protests and boycotts, celebrity endorsements, and a wide variety of controversial media-grabbing campaigns. Ingrid Newkirk is one of the most single-focused and committed animal rights activists on earth, and the entire movement can learn a lot from her passion and purpose. This documentary tells the story of Ingrid and PETA, and lays the foundation for activists and non-activists alike to step-up and be the change they want to see. Please bring guests, as this film is important for everyone to see. It runs from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

General Info
TARS potlucks occur on the first and third Sundays of every month. They are one of the best ways to meet like minded people, socialize, and participate in a free exchange of ideas. Most potlucks are attended by more than 60 people, and some have been attended by as many as 100 people. Potlucks provide a fantastic opportunity to taste a variety of delicious entrees and desserts, try new foods, and exchange recipes. TARS is a welcoming and inclusive community for everyone. Invite your friends to expose them to new ideas and great food.

What to Bring
If you are bringing a dish of food, make a large portioned recipe that is designed to serve 8-10 people (there is never a shortage of hungry people at these events!). There are plenty of great vegan recipe books that can help you out with ideas. Beverages are always necessary and are an easy alternative to cooking or baking. If you are bringing a beverage, a large carton or jug of juice or water will work very well.
Dishes should be free of animal meat (including fish and chicken), and direct animal derivatives such as dairy products and eggs. Some of us prefer to avoid eating honey, so using an alternative will enable everyone to enjoy your food. Also please avoid using soy cheeses with "casein" (milk protein) listed as an ingredient. Bring a small piece of paper with a list of potential allergens (nuts, wheat, etc.) to place beside your dish. Two stoves and a microwave are available if your food needs to be warmed. Since this is a family-friendly event, and after-dinner educational events require clear attention, all beverages should be non-alcoholic. Non-disposable plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery, and cloth napkins are provided courtesy of TARS. Compost and recycling is available for leftovers.
